Element
The most popular Matrix client, the open-source alternative to Discord or Slack's own apps.
Element is the actual app people use to chat: real-time messages, rooms, direct messages, and voice/video calls, connected to a Matrix homeserver like Conduit. It's available on desktop, mobile, and the web.
Because Matrix is an open protocol, Element isn't tied to any one server. Pointed at a self-hosted homeserver instead of the public matrix.org one, conversations stay off a third party's infrastructure entirely.
