A self-hosted hypervisor for running virtual machines and containers, the open-source alternative to VMware or Hyper-V.
Proxmox VE turns a single machine into a full virtualization platform, running multiple VMs and LXC containers side by side with a web-based dashboard for managing all of it: CPU and RAM allocation, snapshots, backups, the works.
It's the foundation a lot of self-hosted setups end up standardizing on: instead of one server doing one job, Proxmox carves it into isolated virtual machines, so a misbehaving experiment can't take down anything else running alongside it.
